New Sneaker Rocks Industry
July 24th - Portland, Oregon
In an unprecedented move that many experts forecast will send shockwaves throughout the sneaker industry, Nike will release the very first shoe in what the company has unofficially titled the "Super-Limited-Premium-Exclusive-Retro-Laser-Lux-Artist-Quickstrike-SB" series. The sneaker is a collaboration between designers from Nike, Stussy, Supreme, Nutrasweet brand aspartame low-calorie sugar substitute; Shock G from rap group Digital Underground (the one who put the satin in your panties), actor/comedian Sinbad, and singer Benny Mardones, who scored a hit in 1980 with his song "Into the Night." Only 3.65 pairs of the shoe will be produced, with two going to boutiques in Japan, one pair being sold out of the trunk of Nike CEO Phil Knight's car, and various fabric remnants supplied to select stores in New York and Los Angeles. Mysteriously, full size runs have already appeared for sale on Ebay, with "buy it now" options running in the neighborhood of $120.00. The sneaker will be available in late August 2004.

Cubex Pack: Delta x Rebel One
July 2004, Singapore- Cubex: Explorations in Urban Overgrowth
Theatres on the Bay and Readymade Projects are pleased to present Cubex: Explorations in urban overgrowth featuring pioneering graffiti artist Delta (Boris Tellegen) from Amsterdam. Curated by Putri Trisulo, Readymade Projects and Tamares Goh, Esplanade, Cubex is a site-specific public art commission developed for the main concourse foyer at Esplanade in conjunction with Bay Beats Festival 2004. The exhibition will be on public view from 6 July to 10 August for a duration of six weeks.
In support of this show, Rebel One will be producing Cubex Pack: A t-shirt and stickers packaged in an industrial tote bag. Designed by Delta, each t-shirt is silkscreened in random colour variations on white, no two t-shirts are the same.

H.I.C PRODUCT REVIEW...THE RIVIERA BOARD SHORT..A DEFINITE MUST HAVE!
Okay. I have tried many a board short over my time and had many bad experiences with some. You know what I mean. The stitching starts to come out after one use, the material becomes so saturated with water that it feels like it weighs a ton, or getting that not so comfortable rash from poor stitch finishing and lack of lining in that very, very, very sensitive area.
But recently, I found the most comfortable board short I have ever tried in my entire life. Our friend, Lisa has pledged to raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer as part of her participation in the walk. Your contribution will help to support medical research into the possible causes of and cure for breast cancer, education and early detection programs, and clinical care and support services for women with breast cancer in communities across the country. There is a special focus on helping medically underserved women, the poor, minorities, the elderly, or those with inadequate health insurance. And much of the money granted by the Foundation goes back to the communities where it was raised, supporting everything from local grassroots programs to national organizations.

PLANET REEF: PUT A PRICE ON OUR SOLE
Take several pairs of REEF sneakers...collab them with some of the dopest artists from Europe...and what do you get? Simple, WALKING ART. Walking Art, a collab effort between Reef and French based artist Collective 9eme Concept, held and created at various Planet Reef events throughout Europe, has produced several original pairs of sneakers for an auction benefitting Surf Aid International. The sneakers were set for auction on eBay for 10 days beginning on June 15. I know this is kind of late, but peep out eBay, you may find some of the Reef originals still up for acution.
