We’re All Mad Here

We’re All Mad Here: The Cheshire Cat Show
October 7th – October 13th, 2006
Opening Reception – October 7th, 7-10 PM
Gallery 1988

“We’re All Mad Here” – The Cheshire Cat celebration at Gallery 1988 - will feature two different elements of art, both of which focus on the mysterious Cheshire Cat from the classic Disney film, “Alice in Wonderland.” This special event will run October 7 – October 13, 2006, with a large scale Wonderland opening reception on October 7, from 7-10 PM. For this week only, the Gallery will be open Sunday, October 8th and Monday, October 9th.

Customized versions of the Span of Sunset produced Cheshire Cat vinyl toy will be displayed throughout the gallery, each with a one-of-a-kid touch. Over 50 customizable vinyl toys will be hand-painted or manipulated by different artists, making for a very rare collectible. In addition to the customized toys, dozens of paintings depicting the Cheshire Cat, and the Alice in Wonderland universe, will be hanging throughout the gallery to compliment the exhibition. Artists participating in this show include Joe Ledbetter, Tokidoki, Bwana Spoons, Kathie Olivas, Anthony Ausgang, Martin Ontiveros, Attaboy, Annie Owens, UPSO, Jermaine Rogers and many others.

The custom vinyl cats will be available for purchase via silent auction. The bidding will begin at the opening reception, and close on October 13th at 5:00 PM PST. The status of bids will be available for viewing at any time on the gallery website, Bids can be made at any time by calling or emailing the gallery. A portion of the toy sales will be donated to a charity specializing in children’s welfare. Paintings from this show will also be available for purchase, but on a first come, first serve bases.

“We’re All Mad Here” promises to be a very special event, where a classic icon (in the form of vinyl and canvas) meets some of the nation’s most talented emerging artists at Gallery 1988. This event is an extension of the Disney Fine Art Portfolio, published by Collectors Editions, and is being produced in conjunction with Disney and Collectors Editions.
