The Release of RELEASE

Introducing 'Release', a new clothing line commisioned by your forward thinking peeps over at Scion. Release is a sportswear line with a twist, combining traditional golf wear with cutting edge, high end streetwear sensibility. The 2006 Release line is co-designed by Blue Davis and Jupiter Desphy III, two of the most sought after streetwear designers in the country.

According to Blue, the inspiration was "to think back to the roots of the Toyota brand and the meaning of the word Scion, (1 (SCION) a young shoot or twig of a plant, esp. one cut for grafting or rooting. 2 a descendant of a notable family or one with a long lineage: he was the scion of a wealthy family.) This pointed us in the direction of early Japanese art; rock gardens, floral arrangements, Yakuza tattoo art, even kit graphics. The next step was to graft these classical themes with the present Scion concept, car customization and car junkie culture. Other themes we used were, organic vs. inorganic and a twist of Scottish golf patterns but our main goal was to acknowledge ancestry and pay homage to Toyota's Japanese design sensibility and heritage."

Co-designer Jupiter describes the line as "performance meets class. We used classic American silhouettes such as flat front slacks and sweater vests and placed functional and ergonomic ideologies within them. Which in turn creates an amazing aesthetic. We wanted to implement aspects into the line that the wearer could feel and appreciate. Much like the comfort considered when designing the cabin of an automobile. Clearly, men want to have a well-constructed look but I felt that refined details are for the wearer not the observer. In a sense the line looks great and maintains a timeless image but it's what's under the hood that drives its appeal. Subtleties are everything."

Look out for the Swinging Celebrity Golf Invitational: Scottsdale, AZ - 3/20 & 3/21 to kick off the new line.

The two-day golf Invitational, takes place at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa and the Tournament Players Club (TPC) from March 20-21. The Scion Release Invitational will bring together key influencers in music, fashion, film, and sports to take part in charity golf and celebrate the launch of this innovative clothing brand, with all proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of America. Celebrities and teams to date include RZA, Gabrielle Union, Mike Jones, Hill Harper, America’s Next Top Model winner Naima Mora, Sleepy Brown, Mobb Deep, Zoe Saldana, Tony Yayo, Trina, Trick Daddy, Lloyd Banks, Juvenile, Fabolous, Ray J, MOP, Interpol’s Paul Banks, Raekwon, Timbaland, Cartoon, Estevan, Paul Wall, Skinhead Rob, Trina, Mike Vogel, Lance Bass, Tiny “Debo” Lister, KD Aubert, Chris Jacobs, Kelly Carlson, Corri English, Kevin Sorbo, Zachary English, Wild ‘N Out producer Nick Cannon, NFL players Haloti Ngata, Damion Anderson, Kyle Kosier, Marvel Smith and Adalius Thomas, pro skateboarder Stevie Williams, Jesse Terreo, Dania Ramirez, Burton team members Romain DeMarchi, Todd Richards, Dingo, Olympic silver medalist Danny Cass and Olympic gold medalist Hannah Teter, G-Unit & 50 Cent, Vibe Magazine, Stuff Magazine, Frank151, Mass Appeal, Vice, MTV, Yokohama, Soul Assassins, NFL Players Inc., XM Radio, Boost Mobile, Reebok, and with HBO’s Hit Series Entourage Star, Jeremy Piven, taking center stage as the weekend’s host.

C.R.E.A.M. by Freshjive

Freshjive's C.R.E.A.M. line, which is now available online at www.digitalgravel.com. For spring release, Freshjive has designed and produced an exclusive line of T-shirts that will be available online only to Digital Gravel customers. The C.R.E.A.M. designs serve to both pay homage as well as critique the current state of Hip Hop and its influences. With an emphasis on money and power, the series is meant to invoke thought and question how we perceive fame and fortune. The C.R.E.A.M. line will be followed by another exclusive Digital Gravel line, which will be a return to Freshjive’s The Seditionary Movement. The Seditionary line will be released shortly after and will follow a similar theme, but with a focus on revolution and anti-complacency. All tees will retail for $24.00 and the first 100 customers will also receive a C.R.E.A.M. sticker pack. Accompanying the launch, Digital Gravel will be posting an extensive and candid interview with Freshjive president and founder, Rick Klotz.

The graphics can be previewed here: http://www.freshjive.net/ but are only available for purchase online at www.digitalgravel.com.
