As the wild card of the groundbreaking Los Angeles crew Freestyle Fellowship, which also includes Aceyalone, P.E.A.C.E. and Self Jupiter, Myka Nyne boldly went where no emcee had gone before with a style equal parts soulful singing, jazz-scat improv and rapid-fire roughhouse lyricism, redefining the art of freestyling as we know it today, dragging underground hip-hop headfirst into another dimension of possibility and showering rap with a number of classic songs in the process. A handful of daring but largely slept-on solo albums later, Myka is fresh for ’06 with Citrus Sessions Vol. 1, a 20-track musical manifesto to a world – and a talent – that just keeps getting hotter. New collaborators such as Mike Meeker (who contributes “Citrus District”, “Alive Again” and “Stay Strong”), Jeff Bhasker (producer of Game’s “The Documentary”, who comes with the beat for “Steamin”), Steve Doze (who offers “Tabloid”, “Picture Book” and “Me And My Girl”), Crown City Rockers member Headnodic (who drops in with “Viles” and Everybody Get’s Down”), DJ Exile (the man behind Mobb Deep’s “Pearly Gates”, who drops cuts on “Me And My Girl”) round out Myka’s circle on this release along with some of his longtime partners in crime like Josef Leimberg (who laces “Determination”, “Higher Water” and “Hollywood Jack”), Kiilu Grand, and the mighty P.E.A.C.E., who knocks heads with Myka over the thunderous “Viles”.

Citrus Sessions Vol. 1 is scheduled for an August 8 release on Citrus Recordings (www.citrus-recordings.com). Myka will also be performing 14 dates on the WARP Tour this summer in prep for an early fall national tour which he will be conducting with a full live band, and a number of European dates into the final months of ‘06.
