The Don’yoku 8-inch vinyl Dunny Toy will hit you faster than a Yakuza’s shuriken. When designing this toy, Huck Gee wanted to commemorate the mysterious life and times of the enigmatic Don’yoku. His white fighting garb is a throwback to sumo fighters and the Edo Period Japanese tattoos clearly remind one of his Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) roots.

Don'yoku was rumored to be one of highest-ranking members of the Yakuza. During his long reign the few that dared cross him were quick to learn the error of their ways. The next morning they would wake to find their entire household had been slaughtered while they had slept. No one was spared except the individual that had crossed Don'yoku.

Huck Gee recently completed a series of figures, with Kidrobot, for Barneys New York, which featured the designs of Marc Jacobs, Dries Van Noten, Jil Sander, Rick Owens, and Duckie Brown. He is currently working on numerous toy designs with Kidrobot, including figures for DJ Qbert and N*E*R*D. Huck presently resides in Northern California pretending to be a racecar driver. The Don’yoku Dunny is limited to 2000 pieces and is available for $39.95 on December 1st, 2005 at Kidrobot stores, online, and with select retailers.

Kidrobot announces breaking news via South America. The supernatural creatures that swipe body fat, known as lik’ichiri, and are said to haunt the Altiplano (highlands) of the Andes mountains, have been defeated by a new, shining red-ray of heavenly light known as the Doma Dunny. This 8-inch vinyl toy hero has been associated with saving the lives and body fat of many Argentine citizens.

The Doma collective is a group of Argentines that started in the Buenos Aires street art scene in 1998. Doma began doing urban installations, stencils, street-projections and absurd campaigns. Since the groups inception they’ve been creating conceptual universes, different worlds and characters that have been evolving to come alive with the groups specialization in animation, motion graphics and filming.

The 8-inch Doma Dunny, will be available in red (limited to 1500) and blue (limited to 2000) on December 8th, 2005. Doma will retail for $29.95 and will be sold at Kidrobot stores, online,, and with select retailers.

Sekond Hand Projects - New Site

Sekond Hand Projects has just updated their site. I wasn't sure where to post this information, but I figured there is some dope design work and photos in the books, All-City:The Book About Taking Up Space and Bully:It's the Pits, so this section would do it justice.
Sekond Hand Projects is developed from the mind of Paul107. Paul107 is a Montreal, Quebec cat that published two interesting books on graf art and pits. With the new re-designed site, Paul107 has graciuously provided everyone full access to both books, All-City:The Book About Taking Up Space and Bully:It's the Pits. For those who haven't checked them out, please do so. The content, design, and photos are dope!

Once you check them out, I am sure you will want to own them as well. There is nothing better than to actually see the books first hand. Plus, they are great coffee table books!

Peep it...

Art Basel Exposed 2005

University of Miami’s student-run radio station WVUM-FM and Miami Art Lab present Art Basel Exposed 2005, featuring the work of Sam Brown of, Tavare Hill a local Miami artist & Kelly Tunstall of San Francisco.

Sam Brown has become a popular name from his trademark stick figure art inspired by subjects and titles sent to him via email. On peak days, he receives almost 200 emails with suggested titles. From these titles he draws colorful, imaginative stick figures with quick, comedic wit.
Tavare Hill is well known in the local scene as a leader in the use of urban aesthetic. His works are a blend of lowbrow & outsider with a strong reference to urban life and childhood. Hill also teaches at Design and Architecture Senior High.

Kelly Tunstall is an established artist who’s collected on the world market. Her paintings stunning female form strongly resemble character drawings of the fashion industry of times past. Tunstall’s pixie-like women are highly polished and glamorous beauties.

There will also be a juried art show for local artists. Ten works will be selected by a jury that is comprised of Alfredo Triff of The University of Miami, John Bailly of The Honors College at F.I.U., Tavare Hill of D.A.S.H. and Erik Lopez of Miami Art Lab.

3 Trees Make A Forest

November 19 - December 6, 2005
Opening Reception: This Saturday, November 19th, 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Three internationally recognized artists: Ronnie Del Carmen, Enrico Casarosa, and Tadahiro Uesugi, will be exhibiting their new work in our gallery. There will be limited prints and originals available. These talented artists/friends are coming together for the first time in the US to create a show with illustrations of stunning elegance, simplicity and beauty. Ronnie and Enrico will be visiting us from Pixar and Tadahiro will be flying in all the way from Tokyo. This show was born out of the 3 artists mutual admiration for each other and a desire to do something together. Ronnie and Enrico in fact met with Tadahiro last fall in Japan where they invited him to visit them in the US. Thus with great honor we are proud to present the “ Three Trees Make a Forest” show. Mark your calendars, this is a show not to be missed!
