Dwele - songwriter, producer, artist

Laced with 2-step appeal, the mid-tempo lead single, “I Think I Love You,” written and produced by Mike City, is an honest tale of feeling a bit too open on another, sooner than anticipated. Even though the timing is a bit early and just a tad soon, Dwele humbly rests his cards on the table rather than lie to himself or the object of his newfound affection. Oh, and according to his estimation, the dynamics of music and relationships become skewed once restrictions are added to the equation. Seemingly, that’s what he’s spelling out on “Flapjacks,” but he wants listeners to come to their own conclusions. “That was the first song I wrote and produced for this album and I wanted to try something that had a Southern-type bounce to it, but still had that Dwele feel. Nobody really knows what I’m talking about, so they create their own meaning which is what I like – and that’s how it’s going to stay,” he laughs.
Check out his other song produced by Jay Dee and featuring a hook & rhyme courtesy of Common and Slum Village, “Keep On” is a man’s straightforward request of his woman to just keep doing what she does best, thus “making me sing this song."

Kanye on Toronto airwaves (exclusive footage)

What up...just wanted to give props to our new friends at TOFLOW.COM. They have hooked up some exclusive footage from a controversial interview Kanye did with the local radio station, Flow's 93.5. Gotta give it up to Kanye for standing up for what he believes in. To the dj at 93.5...kill that radio voice..silence is golden, even if you are on the radio. Much respect to Kanye, ever since I saw him steal his own video footage on Punk'd, you knew that he was down.
check it out: click the links on 8.18.2005 (Exclusive)

The Building Blocks of Hip Hop

Its a shame that kids today dont realize that most of today's music was originally released over 20 years ago. On that note, one of hip hop's greatest record labels, Tommy Boy, has compiled twelve of the most sampled tracks that would become building blocks of Hip Hop music. Executive produced by Tom Silverman, Founder/CEO of Tommy Boy, with Special Edits by The Original Jazzy Jay, this album gives you a brief lesson in hip hop and its roots. With head nodding beats and guitar riffs, youth of today will be well educated in how Disco, Funk, Soul, Rock, Jazz, Pop and Reggae were united and extended under the DJs hands to mold into Hip Hop. "ENHANCE YOUR FUTURE, REMEMBER THE PAST!"

Rhymefest

Fresh off his 2005 Grammy win for co-writing the rap song of the year “Jesus Walks” with Kanye West, Chicago native, Rhymefest is set to release his highly-anticipated debut album Blue Collar, this summer on Allido Records/J Records. The sharp-witted MC is expected to have fellow Chi-town representatives, Kanye, Twista, Common and Carl Thomas as well as Q-Tip and the late Dirt McGirt (aka ODB) featured on his album. Despite the great guest appearances, it’s Rhymefest’s sharp wit and lethal sense of humor that sets him apart and carries this opus driven album from track to track.
Rhymefest’s foray into hip-hop began as a battle MC in Chicago, which led him to traverse the world winning battles against such notables as Eminem, Juice, Swann and many more. With an impressive discography* of guest appearances, singles and mixtapes, Rhymefest has been honing his craft for years and is poised to be the artist to watch out for in 2005. I believe the album drops next month. Be on the lookout...
