An omnibus of Asian mystery tales, inspired by the desire of three film-makers in three different countries - Korea, Japan and Hong Kong - to collaborate on a project which would appeal to audiences who wish to step into the minds of these directors. Each story deals with the most mysterious of emotions. Divided into 3 segments: Cut, Box, and Dumplings this project explores the possibilities of terror from three different perspectives
Those of you into Asian cinema should come check this out. I've seen bits and pieces, and it's a pretty interesting film. As part of the VC film fest, it's only going to be shown once at 11:55pm at the Laemmle Sunset Theatre this Saturday 4/30. See you guys there.

Head over to the Elsewhere Studios website and check out two live videos that were done by the production team at the Detroit Bar in August. It was a full house and the show was happening from beginning to end. If you're diggin the videos, go pick up the new Emanon CD because they are on there. If you don't, go pick up the album anyways.

Todd Solondz's latest film Palindromes is playing in theaters now. Haven't gotten a chance to see it yet, but it should be an interesting film to check out since he's been away for a while.

For those who enjoyed Napoleon Dynamite and like The Postal Service, go check out the We Will Become Silhouettes music video. Although it doesn't star Uncle Rico or Pedro, director of Napoleon Dynamite Jared Hess managed to capture a similar aesthetic feel. If that isn't enough for you, Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley does a cameo with two children as backup singers. Fans should find it entertaining.
Just wanted to give fellow PSP owners heads up, if you don't already know, that the first wave of UMD movies are slated for release next Tuesday. Titles will include House of Flying Daggers, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Hellboy, Kill Bill Vol. 1, XXX, Resident Evil:Apocalypse, and Pirates of the Carribean. If you're really anxious to get them, several members on Playstation.com's message boards have found the UMDs at Walmart. Bestbuy, Target, Fry's, and several other retailers should all be carrying them by next week.
Saw the trailer right before viewing Sin City so I thought I'd post the trailer link and this new toy that Hasbro is releasing.

Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme is a work in-progress film that explores the world of improvisational rap--the rarely recorded art form of rhyming spontaneously, or "off the top of the head." Made over the course of more than seven years, mostly with borrowed or stolen cameras by a co-operative of students, b-boys, DJs, and MCs know as The Center for Hip-Hop Education, Freestyle takes the viewer on a journey through the previously unexamined dimensions of hip-hop as a spiritual and community based art form. DVD scheduled to be released May 24th.

Directed by Spike Jonze and tracked by a soundtrack composed by Sam Spiegel featuring Karen O, the three artists conceived an immersive dreamlike sequence. For more info, follow the link below.

Create a hyperactive shape shifting child who's been locked away in a basement and then score the short to music by Aphex Twin and what is the result? A short seven minute film titled Rubber Johnny. Of course only the imaginative mind of Cunningham could think of something so twisted. The DVD is scheduled to be released 5/23/05. Check out the official website.

In the mood for a Spaghetti Western? How about a musical? A romantic tearjerker? Well you can have all of that in the Thai cult film, Fai Talai Jone also known as Tears Of The Black Tiger. With Citizen Dog now under his belt, Wisit Sasanatieng's first film is a memorable one.

Nothing is hotter than chicks who snowboard, except hot chicks that snowboard and snowboard well. Check out this dvd. It was released last year, but pop this in before you ride and you'll be amped to ride. Dropstitch is a dvd that highlights girls who have taken this male dominant sport and made it on their own. Its all about talent, determination, inspiration, and devotion to the sport. Hey, its something to watch as the snow slowly starts to melt and we pop in our Fresh Prince CD and get ready for summa-summa summa time!!! This will help ease the itch to ride...til next season.
